Read to the dogs

Paws to Listen: Read to a Dog! – Sun, May 4, 2:00-3:00 pm

Next meeting on May 4th, 2014 at 2:00pm

K-5th Grade This program is scheduled for the first Sunday of every month.

Reading to a dog…what a great way to improve children’s reading skills!  Not just any dogs either, but registered therapy dogs from the Human Animal Bond group in Leavenworth.  Animals are the ideal reading companions because they listen and do not judge or laugh or criticize.  To participate, children should be able to read.  The Human Animal Bond volunteers stay with their dogs and help the children warm up to the animals before they start reading.    When children arrive, they sign up for a 10-15 minute time slot at the Children’s Desk.
