Prescription Drug Take Back – Sat. Sept. 27, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Drug take back

Unused or expired medications are a public safety issue, leading to accidental poisoning, overdose, and abuse. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has classified prescription drug abuse as an epidemic. Data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health show that nearly one-third of people aged 12 and over who used drugs for the first time in 2009 began by using a prescription drug non-medically. Improperly disposed medications can harm the environment. Sewage treatment plants may not be able to clean all medicines out of the water. This may harm fish and wildlife. Please bring your unneeded prescriptions or over-the-counter medications to the library for safe, responsible destruction in this DEA sponsored take back program. All medications will be accepted, human or veterinary. No questions asked.
