Tonight’s guest discussion leader is Rex Buchanan, Director of the Kansas Geological Survey. Mr. Buchanan will bring his expert knowledge of the land of Kansas to our exploration of survival.

The suggested book for this program is Arctic Drift by  Clive Cussler. The hero of Cussler’s series is Dirk Pitt, a sea-going engineer-adventurer who often finds himself in extreme conditions—stranded on an arctic ice flow, adrift in a raft, or even trapped in a sunken wreck. The author’s attention to the scientific detail of cutting edge marine technologies keeps readers transfixed through to the triumphant end.

The video highlights the struggle to survive on a multi-generational farm, with an interesting twist. The Shrum farming family pushes its limits to survive as farmers while also bringing that survival instinct to their recreational activities – demolition derbies. ** A light dinner will be provided.
