Abraham Lincoln: A New Birth of Freedom
2:00 pm

Geared towards school age children, but all ages are welcome

This is Mr. Lincoln’s basic historical presentation, centering on the twelve turbulent years from 1854-1865, when the slavery issue, which had been divisive from the very beginning of our country, came to a head and nearly broke the country apart. Mr. Lincoln will give some historical background beginning with the Declaration of Independence. He’ll share the events which led him back into politics in the mid-1850s, the escalating tensions, his election as President and, of course, the Civil War. You’ll hear directly from some of Mr. Lincoln’s best-known speeches and writings, and you will be inspired to hope as he did for a “new birth of freedom” for our country.

The “Lost Speech”: Lincoln’s Greatest Speech Ever?
6:30 pm

Geared towards adults, but all ages are welcome

Mr. Lincoln discusses, and recreates in part, his famous “lost speech” given at Bloomington, IL on May 29, 1856. It was a critical time in our nation’s history, Kansas’s history and his political career.

Each of the formal presentations will be followed by additional time for questions and answers, photos, and informal interaction.
