Book T.A.L.K. (Talk About Literature in Kansas)

February 7 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Our spring series in the Humanities Kansas Book TALK series will be The Civil War. Even though the Civil War was over 150 years ago, the reasons to continue exploring its impact are clear. The continuing legacy of the Civil War is reflected in contemporary debates over “states’ rights,” the display of Confederate flags and monuments, and the continuing struggle of African Americans to claim a full share of political rights and economic power in America.

We’ll read three books in this series. The first is The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane. Our first discussion will be Friday, February 7 and will be lead by Dr. Gene Chavez.

Copies of the book are now available at the library. Please join us for a thought provoking discussion.
