Exploring the Quindaro Ruins

February 12 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

In 1857, the town of Quindaro emerged as a force to bring Kansas into the Union as a Free State. Quindaro sat in the Eye of the Border Storm between Missouri and Kansas.

Hear the fascinating story of its life, times, and contribution to our common history from Dr. Steve Collins. Dr. Collins was the project manager of the Federal Save America’s Treasures Grant that oversaw the first restoration of the crumbling buildings at Quindaro. He has spent fifteen years studying Territorial Kansas history and the Underground Railroad in Quindaro and eastern Kansas. We are fortunate to be so near a significant historical site that has won local and national designations. And we are fortunate to be led in our exploration by Dr. Collins.

Registration is encouraged.
