Join us for our Twenties n’ Thirties book discussion of “Secondhand Souls” by Christopher Moore. We’re doing a potluck and having a Q&A session with the author after the book discussion. Please bring a side dish you’d like to share.
Something really strange is happening in the City by the Bay. People are dying, but their souls are not being collected. Death Merchant Charlie Asher, trapped in the body of a fourteen-inch-tall “meat puppet” until his Buddhist nun girlfriend Audrey can find him a suitable new body, is just as flummoxed as everyone else. Help comes from a motley crew of heroes including the seven-foot-tall Death Merchant Minty Fresh, former Goth girl Lily, retired policeman turned bookseller Alphonse Rivera, and the Emperor of San Francisco and his dogs, Bummer and Lazarus. Now if only they can get little Sophie to stop babbling about the coming battle for the very soul of humankind . . .
